                               Henry Ford

Henry Ford had a natural ability for reassembling machinery at a very young age. Growing up, at the age of 13, he was the go to guy for fixing watches for adults. In addition, he was well equipped and ready for a career in assembly. Proceeding through life mastering every job he had, Ford found himself sitting with chief executives for major companies. Everybody wanted Ford to design or help build a machine. In his process of working, he continuously stayed focused on his own vision. This vison included him manifesting the first Model T car. As a result, Mr. Ford created jobs paying great wages and very lucrative income. Henry was a caring guy who invested a lot of time into his employees and family. He took his wealth and spread it into education, wars, peace treaties and incentives for employees. This had a lot to do with his passion for building things. His accomplishments coincide with his famous quote, “Whether you think you can or you can’t either way, you’re right.”

Ironically, through years of experience in school and the working environment. I have realized the way I think influences my emotion and my everyday performance. My brain contains billions of nerve cells arranged in patterns that coordinate thought, emotion, behavior, movement and sensation. Our brains control our emotions but, it also controls our body and movements. Scientifically, it has been proven the way a human thinks is the way one’s life will pretty much go. If I think with a low self-esteem my body will react in a negative way. This is why I agree with Henry Ford thinking is your key to success filling your brain with positive energy. I personally started a business with very little money and no real plan.

Therefore, my only thought was, “Dewayne you can do it’ nothing can stop you from starting your own business.” Surprisingly, two years later I am running a very profitable business funded by myself with no investors or business loans. The way a person thinks takes part in a major role in all aspects of life self-esteem, relationships, and success.

                            Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We all are told by our parents growing up to have dreams and goals. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr had an awesome dream that paved the way for many different cultures in America. King was a social activist and Baptist minister. He led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States in the mid-1950s and 1960s. Inspired by the NAACP, his goal was equality for all Americans. Furthermore, being known for many great accomplishments and speeches. The most famous speech to date is his “I Have a Dream” speech. In the year of the Civil Rights Act 1964, King organized the march on Washington where he peacefully addressed injustice toward African Americans. In addition, King had many quotes such as, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education.” Nevertheless, he changed the world with his intensive thinking and the way different cultures treat each other.

Granted I wasn’t big on education growing up or I just didn’t apply myself. When I realized education is key to success I wanted to put my thinking cap back on. I found when my mind is forced to think intensively I retain information better. In order to be at my best, I have to put my brain in critical thinking mode. I use this technique in multiple aspects of life such, as school, work, gym and driving. When I was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding working on nuclear vessels the most important rule of my job was to think critically. I had to follow procedures and directions, but on job was totally different than what my supervisor was seeing on his laptop. Critical thinking isn’t something that can be taught in my opinion because somethings just have to be figured out in life.
